Multimediale voorstelling.
In 2018 – exact honderd jaar na het einde van de wrede Eerste Wereldoorlog – wil VDL een multimediale podiumproductie presenteren die gebaseerd is op hoe jonge Europeanen vandaag op een dynamische en vitale manier over de toekomst van Europa reflecteren.
Terwijl de EU de individuele lidstaten strenge begrotings- en besparingsnormen oplegt, leggen de EU Commissie en de Raad van Europa weinig tot geen sociale normen op. In alle Europese lidstaten merk je dat burgers zelf aan de slag gaan om het dwingende economische karakter van het EU-beleid te corrigeren.
In de zomer van 2017, na een fase van grondige research, reizen 8 groepjes van burgers en kunstenaars door de Europese lidstaten op zoek naar inspirerende en toekomstgerichte praktijken en vertogen.

Under the name The Art of Organising Hope, we want to start up a mobilization project. A project arising from the desire to search Europe for discourses and practices that embody alternatives for the existing world order. The name of the project – The Art of Organising Hope – refers to the subtitle of an Ana Cecilia Dinerstein book. She describes how successful, alternative practices and discourses are being developed in Latin America. We want to undertake the same quest in Europe.
The goal of this quest is to find and discover ideas, collaborations, concrete practices and organizational structures that foster a different societal order. An order that brings us closer to a more just and more durable world.
We assume there is no ready-made blueprint for a more ecological, more just world. Such a clear-cut model is not even desirable.
