WELKOM IN FLUVIUSLAND is een theatrale rondleiding door een pretpark in aanbouw, midden in de wijk Sluizeken-Tolhuis-Ham. Fluviusland heeft al bijna alles wat bij een echt pretpark hoort: een bont gezelschap parkpersoneel, een onmogelijk grondplan, zoete broodjes, licht ontspoorde mascottes, een eigen soundtrack en attracties met namen als Donkerland, Het Nest of Tolleke-Polhuis-Salam. Het enige wat nog mist, is een buslading uitgelaten bezoekers!
Kom jij als eerste de wachtrijen testen?
DE LOCATIE: volgend jaar wordt de voormalige Fluviussite in de Ham definitief een buurtpark. Tot die tijd krijgen bewoners en organisaties uit de wijk Sluizeken-Tolhuis-Ham ruimte om er te werken, te spelen en te experimenteren, in een tijdelijke invulling onder de vleugels van ocup vzw. Dit betonnen braakland, op twee minuten wandelen van onze werkplek in De Expeditie, spreekt tot de verbeelding, zeker nu het een jaar lang in al zijn stenen glorie ligt te wachten op zijn toekomstige bestemming.
Met Victoria Deluxe grijpen we deze kans om nog eens voluit op locatie te werken, in weer en wind, tussen de huizen. En samen met een groeiende, open groep buurtbewoners, makers, vrijwilligers en oude bekenden van Victoria Deluxe. Met Fluviusland willen we onderzoeken hoe je aan (een tijdelijke?) gemeenschap bouwt door samen vorm te geven aan een plek. Hoe kan dat proces zo open en collectief mogelijk verlopen, zonder de bijzondere eigenheid van ieders inbreng te verliezen? Met WELKOM IN FLUVIUSLAND delen we die oefening voor het eerst met publiek.

WELCOME TO FLUVIUSLAND is a theatrical guided tour through an amusement park under construction, right in the heart of the Sluizeken-Tolhuis-Ham neighbourhood. Fluviusland already has almost everything a real amusement park needs: a colourful crew of park staff, an impossible site plan, sweet buns, slightly off-kilter mascots, its own soundtrack, and attractions with names like Darkland, The Nest, or Tolleke-Polhuis-Salam. The only thing still missing is a busload of overexcited visitors!
Will you be the first to test the queues?
THE LOCATION: next year, the former Fluvius site in the Ham will officially become a neighbourhood park. Until then, residents and organisations from Sluizeken-Tolhuis-Ham have space to work, play and experiment there, through a temporary programme coordinated by Ocup vzw. This concrete wasteland (two minutes’ walk from our home base in De Expeditie) fires the imagination, especially now that it gets to spend one full year in all its stony glory, waiting for what it will become.
With Victoria Deluxe, we’re taking this chance to work fully on site again (outdoors, in all weather, between the houses) together with a growing, open group of neighbours, makers, volunteers and long-time friends of Victoria Deluxe. With Fluviusland, we want to explore how you build (a temporary?) community by shaping a place together. How can that process stay as open and collective as possible, without losing the particularity of each person’s contribution? With WELCOME TO FLUVIUSLAND, we share that experiment with an audience for the very first time.

This performance takes place on location and partly outdoors, so please wear clothing suitable for the weather.
